  • Bachelor's or equivalent (diplomas and work experience can be credited)

  • One (1) year of professional working experience in the field of Healthcare, Nursing, Psychology, Counseling, Mental Health, Social Work, Health Coaching, or related areas of work

Upon completion of the Ph.D. Degree in Lifestyle Medicine, graduates will be able to:

Which LM Practicums are available?

Ph.D. Degree students join two types of live practicum classes:

  • Monthly Lifestyle Medicine Live Practicum with a focus on learning Lifestyle Medicine protocols, micro-habit, and coaching skills to support patients.

  • 3-Month Coaching Intensive Practicum (Online Live) with a focus on Root-Cause Health Coaching, PsychoSocial Stress, and advanced habit change skills.

Ongoing research and capstone/dissertation supervision are provided via the monthly academic student live meetings and personal meetings with your supervisor every 2 months, using targeted goals you achieve.

What are the steps to graduation?

Completing the study takes multiple steps, which may include:

  • Completing the Lifestyle Medicine Skills Courses

  • Passing the Academic Self-Study and Live Supervisor Classes

  • Creating a proposal that describes the problem you want to solve, the design of the study, and the methodology used.

  • Collecting data, researching, and making findings.

  • Writing your dissertation (8,000–10,000 words equals 30-40 pages).

  • The final step is orally defending the findings to the committee.

  • Graduating with your Ph.D. Degree after IRB approval.

Where will the graduation ceremony be held?

Lifestyle Prescriptions® University hosts global online and local in-person graduation ceremonies. We will provide you with graduation times in advance, allowing you to plan and enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The Online Graduation is typically early November in conjunction with our Lifestyle Medicine WORKS™ Awards. You will share the virtual stage with luminaries in Lifestyle Medicine. The previous awardees included:

NBHWC Board Exam & Certification (Optional)

Our Lifestyle Medicine WORKS™ Certification (LMWC) Training, which is included in the Master's Degree Program, is an NBHWC-approved health coaching school. After you complete our LMWC Certification Training (minimum 9 months), you will be able to sit for the NBHWC exam.

The NBHWC exam is valuable, especially if you practice in the US and want to be reimbursed by medical insurance.

IBLM Board Exam & Certification (Optional)

LPU's Lifestyle Medicine WORKS™ Certification Training has been developed to align with the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine* curriculum and exam requirements.

After you've passed and graduated from Lifestyle Medicine WORKS™ Certification Training, you may sit for the IBLM exam (to receive the DipIBLM credential).

* A minimum of 9 months of LMW study is required to complete the LMWC Certification.

* IBLM board certification is available for Physicians, Masters, and equivalent.
